ACT I
SCENE 1 - ON THE WAY
SASHA, HARPER, LANE, NORAH, ROWAN, NOA, and ALTHEA enter. They are moving, on their way to the convention. They are SUPER DUPER excited. This is the MOST EXCITING day of their lives.
NORAH: Hurry up, everyone! We don’t want to be late.
LANE: Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy!
ROWAN: (falling behind, or entering after the others) Wait up! Wait up!
NOA: I can’t believe we’re actually on our way!!!
ALL: TO THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL SUPERHERO CONVENTION! WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
SASHA: I have been waiting my entire life for this day! Shade, do you think my outfit looks ok?
LANE: Sure - whatever.
SASHA: Are you even listening? Does my cape look ok?
HARPER: Ugh - stop worrying! Your cape looks great. Remember, Mom told us we weren’t supposed to worry about our costumes too much. We’re here to learn!
SASHA:  Don’t tell me what to do!
NORAH: Guys stop bickering! Have you read through the schedule?! Captain Charisma is going to be here! He’s the one who saved the Prime Minister ten years ago!
NOA: So cool! I can’t believe I’m going to actually be in the same room as Gilda the Gallant - she’s the keynote speaker this year!
ALTHEA: Yeah! And The terrific Tinkerton Twins are giving a workshop! They created the first earthquake-safe bridge!
LANE: And I hear they’re working on TIME TRAVEL!
ROWAN: I don’t care about the twins- they’re overrated. I’m here to see Captain America and Ironman.
NORAH: (Laughing) Captain America and Ironman?! They’re not here, silly. Those are fake superheroes- this is a convention for REAL superheroes.
NOA: Yeah - Real superheroes. Like Aurora! And Wild Cat! And Agmunden- the dragon! Like we will be someday. (Strikes a superhero pose)
HARPER: Yeah….someday. For now, though, we can watch and learn from the best!
SASHA: Well - What are we waiting for? Let’s hurry up and get there!
They make it to the convention - they see the 3D Superhero Poster
SONG : This Day Is Gonna Be the Best
Verse 1:
E / F#m/ C#m/ A/ F#m/ B7/E
Here we are/ what a day
Gonna learn about the super hero way/
We are ready/ and getting/ so excited
Look at that line/ around the block
Everybody’s here and we’re ready to rock/
We’ve got/ a lot/ of heroes all united
Chorus:
A/ B/ C#m/E/ A/ B/ E
Two thumbs up/ Give it a YES!/
This day is gonna be the best!

Verse 2:
E / F#m/ C#m/ A/ F#m/ B7/E
Here they come/ Let’s show them what
Super heroes do when the world gets stuck/
We are ready/ and getting so excited
We’ll show them grit/ and teamwork too
Maybe even show them our favorite dance moves
We’ve got/ a lot/ of heroes all united
Chorus:
A/ B/ C#m/E/ A/ B/ E
Two thumbs up/ Give it a YES!/
This day is gonna be the best!

SCENE 2 - WELCOME TO THE CONVENTION
Convention organizer(s) LOGAN, OLIVIA, JASMINE welcome all superheros - They direct their lines to the audience.
LOGAN: Welcome, Welcome!
EVERETT O: Welcome!
LOGAN: We’re so pleased to have you here at the annual superhero convention!!
OLIVIA: This year is particularly exciting because the Sensational Six are here!
ALL: Cheer wildly - Ad Lib - Whoo - hoooo! Yes! Hooray!
JASMINE: And of of course, our keynote speaker is Gilda the Gallant!
ALL: Cheer even MORE wildly
LOGAN: This convention is an annual opportunity for us to gather, share knowledge, and improve our international network of Superheroes!
OLIVIA: You come from all over the world and you have so many diverse talents and so many wonderful outfits!
JASMINE: Whether you are an experienced superhero, a superhero in training, or a kindergartener here on a field trip, we are grateful you’ve taken the time to join us!
LOGAN: Now for some logistical information. I know you’re all excited to see Gilda the Gallant - she will give her talk in the Guardian Great Hall at three pm. Arrive early if you want a good seat!
EVERETT O: It’ll be crowded!
OLIVIA: And at 10:00am, our panel with the Sensational Six will begin. Please join us in the Defender Auditorium.
ALL:  Whisperings from the crowd - ooh ahh
JASMINE: And don’t forget, after the Panel are the Skills Workshops. We know it’s hard to choose which workshop to go to, so we wanted to let the leaders introduce their classes.
LOGAN: (In an announcer voice) First up, pleeeeease welcommmme, the ethereal and ever enchanting, Glow and Roslyn Water Elf.
ALL: Applaud and cheer
HAZEL: Thank you all! This year our class is on the art of Potioneering. It’s called, From “Harvesting to Healing: How to Make Five Easy Everyday Elixirs”.
VIVIAN: Oh boy! Sounds mystical!
RAYA:  Far from it! This class is open to everyone, no matter your age or your superpower.
HAZEL: We will discuss some common plants and natural elements that you can harvest or collect and turn into five helpful potions-- one for Calming, one to Revive Strength, one for Pain Relief, one for Concentration, and one to Stimulate Healing.
SITA: What about a LOVE POTION!?
RAYA: (Laughs) Haha no love potions this year. But we will practice making the other ones so you can take samples home with you!
HAZEL: And you can check out our merch booth where you can get pre-packaged collections of our favorite potions, serums, and elixirs. But if you want to learn to make them yourself, come to our class!! No matter what kind of superhero you are, it is helpful to know how to whip up these potions when you get in a tight spot. Remember...
HAZEL and RAYA: Don’t be scared - Be prepared! [They strike an appropriate pose inspired by their mantra”]
LOGAN: That sounds wonderful, thank you Roslyn and Glow. (In an announcer voice) Next up, we have the terrific Tina Tataki!
KATE D: Thanks for having me! I will be using my expert chef skills to teach a cooking class on “Superhero Superfoods”.
AYLA: Ugh, is it all about Kale?
KATE D: (with a lot of enthusiasm) No way! There might be some kale in the mix, but all the meals we’ll learn about are nutritious and delicious. And, I can’t wait to show you how to cook with my favorite superfood….SEAWEED! So come to my class and I’ll teach you how to be the strongest, healthiest superhero possible. As I always say, Three superfoods a day keep the supervillains away. [She strikes an appropriate pose inspired by her mantra”]
LOGAN: (In an announcer voice) Wonderful! And she’s right! That seaweed is amazing! Next up, we have the Four Old Women Who Just Keep Livin’!
ANNABELLE: Hello! Hello! You’re lucky we made it here in one piece!

SOPHIE D: (with real energy!) Has your hip got you down? Is your arthritis just killing you? Are you worried your superhero days are behind you?

VIOLET L: Don’t give up- don’t despair, we are here to teach you to age gracefully.

ROSALIE S: That’s right folks! Even if you’re wrinkly and old, you can still be brave and bold! (This is their signature catchphrase and is delivered with much energy.)

ANNABELLE: So true, so true. So come to our class and wonder in amazement at our strength...

SOPHIE D: (getting excited)....our wit, our fashionable outfits, our ageless beauty, our bulging muscles--

VIOLET L:. (cutting her off and reining her in) …and, most importantly, our excellent advice! So come to our workshop, Finding Your Power When You’re Past Your Prime!

ROSALIE S: Be there or be square!

LOGAN: So inspiring! Finally, I am thrilled to present, back by popular demand, the incredibly inventive, the extraordinarily engineering, the
LOGAN and EVERETT O: TINKERTON TWINS!
TALULA and DAHLIA: Hello! Hello!
DAHLIA G: We hope you’ll join us for our second installment of Everyday Engineering.
TALULA: Last year, in our class “Simple Solutions to Super Problems”, we learned how to use simple machines in our superhero lives.
DAHLIA: But this year, we’re thinking bigger. Much bigger! This year we’re applying our Engineering Minds to bigger crises! Join us for “Reconstruction: How to RePurpose the chaos around you and ReBuild the world.”
OLIVER W: But I don’t know how to build anything!
TALULA: Then come to our class! We’ll show you how anyone can reuse materials to make useful structures like shelters and bridges. As we always say--
TALULA and DAHLIA: If you can persevere, you can engineer! (They strike an appropriate pose inspired by their mantra”)
LUCIA V: Wow! That sounds awesome! I love the Tinkerton Twins!
PHOENIX (EVERETT P): I can’t wait to improve my everyday engineering skills!
KAYDENCE: But the Potions class sounds so cool too!
NORA H: No way! I‘m definitely going to the Superfoods workshop! I’m trying to get buff!
NICOLAS C: It’s so hard to decide!
OLIVIA: Great! Well, I think that wraps up our morning presentation.
JASMINE: If you have any further questions, please refer to the schedule in your pamphlet.
LOGAN: We are thrilled to have you all here and can’t wait for you to discover everything the Convention has in store. Remember the Three Es! We are here to Expand, Energize, and Empower the Superhero Community. Now go have fun!

SCENE 3 - MERCH BOOTH
The young superheroes are excited to visit the merch booth - they have been looking forward to picking up new costumes/ accessories, gadgets etc.
NOA: Quick, before the Panel starts, let’s rush to the merch booth! I want reflective tape for my cape!
NORAH D: Yes! I have been saving my allowance all year to buy a copy of The Extraordinary Encyclopedia of Environmental Spells! I want to improve my elemental powers!
ALTHEA: I hope they have more Magic Bananas! Last year they sold out!
They run over to the booth and ooh and ahhh at all the things. The vendors, AVERY, ANGELA, BAYLEN, have a real Fred and George Weasley/ Carnival Barker energy. They have cool things to sell and are excited to sell them.
AVERY:     Welcome! Welcome! Don’t be shy!
We’re here for you if you’re here to buy!

BAYLEN:     We’ve got good-guy charms and bad-guy alarms,
Superskill workbooks and superfood cookbooks!

ANGELA:     From Capes and armor to crowns and jewels,
We have everything you need to look super cool.

AVERY:     We’ve got fireproof capes for hot situations,
And charmed bathing suits for your vacations!

ANGELA:     Buy some tacos at our magical food truck
They’re healthy and hearty and will give you good luck.

BAYLEN:     Everlasting water bottles will wash down your meal
And Laser rings can help you cut through steel.

AVERY:     So step right up, there’s shopping to do
We have everything you need to be a SUPER-YOU!

SCENE 4 - ATTEND PANELS
As the Vendor scene ends, the actors rearrange themselves and the panelists take their seats on a row of chairs downstage and the MODERATORS try to quiet everyone.
ORLA: Alright  everyone please get seated! My name is Grit Girl and we are eager to begin our panel with the Sensational Six!
ALL: TREMENDOUS APPLAUSE AND HOOTING AND HOLLERING. These are your idols. You can’t believe you’re in the same room as them.
CASSIDY: Ok,Ok, I know we’re all excited. I am Sparkilicious--
FINN:  --and I am Bubble Man and we are thrilled to present the Sensational Six!
ORLA: Let’s start with introductions.
Song: SuperStar!
Do you need help/ We’ve got you covered
You’ve got us/ and we’ve got each other
If the trouble is near/ or the trouble is far
Count on us/ Super Hero Super Stars!
ADELAIDE B: Hello! I am Wild Cat. I was trained as an assassin, but quickly learned that my super skill is actually kindness.
Let me tell you/ this kitten has claws/
But don’t you worry cause/ kindness is my cause
OSCAR P: I am Captain Charisma, formerly known as Mister Manipulation, much to my shame -- but we can get into that later.

Fall under my spell/ you’ll be glad you did
Everything is fine/ I’ve got this

COCO: I’m TellaRose and I am a super helper, ready to assist anyone with any task, large or small.

Lending a hand/ is what I do best
Ever ready/ cause I don’t ever rest
ALL:
Do you need help/ We’ve got you covered
You’ve got us/ and we’ve got each other
If the trouble is near/ or the trouble is far
Count on us/ Super Hero Super Stars!

HAVIVA: I am Shadow. I know I look sort of evil, but I’m actually really nice and I can control the darkness.

It’s kinda bright in here/ but that’s okay
Remember outta the darkness/ comes a new day

AMELIA F: My name is Aurora, and I can bend sound and light.

Not everything/ is as it appears
I just sent light/ through your ears

OABILOE: And I am Black Hole and, well, I am a black hole.

Is something missing/ something gone
Sorry, hopefully I can get it back to you by the end of this song!

Do you need help/ We’ve got you covered
You’ve got us/ and we’ve got each other
If the trouble is near/ or the trouble is far
Count on us/ Super Hero Super Stars!

FINN: Now, Aurora and Black Hole- you two have a special history. Tell us a little bit about that.
OABILOE: Well, because I’m a black hole, I have the power to suck up the whole world if I’m not careful. For a lot of years, that’s what I did. I lived up to my name and I destroyed everything in sight.
AMELIA: He was such a nuisance. He was on a path to take over the world and I couldn’t let that happen. So I figured out how to temporarily shut down his gravitational force, and I talked some sense into him. I guess you could say I showed him the light.
OABILOE: That’s right! It’s hard to believe, but I transformed from a destructive force into a productive force! To be honest, it’s a lot more fun to be loved than to be hated.
AMELIA: We all have the potential to use our powers selfishly and destructively, but why do that when we can use them for good. Remember everyone, If you don’t like your destiny, change it!
CASSIDY: What a wonderful message! Captain Charisma and Wild Cat, you also have less-than-perfect backgrounds. What advice do you have for our audience about how to deal with negative thoughts and impulses?
OSCAR: Oh boy, well I can definitely answer that. As Mister Manipulation, I spent years --- I mean years and years and years-- wreaking havoc with my sister Miss Machination. I have the power to control minds, so I can make anyone do anything I wanted. And it seemed like fun for a while. But then one day ten years ago I found myself face to face with the Prime Minister. I was about to warp his mind and make him hand himself over to my sister who had plans to assassinate him, when I thought… “What am I doing? I can’t go on like this - one day they’ll send a superhero after me and I’ll be over-- kaput-- -finished.” So I revealed all of our plans to the secret service and helped save the Prime Minister. But it was hard - I deceived the only family I’d ever known. But now I’ve found these guys (indicates Sensational Six) and they’re my new family. We all have dark thoughts from time to time, we all have evil inclinations occasionally, but we can transform those impulses into more productive actions. After all, aren’t all villains simply heroes who have made bad decisions?
ORLA: That’s a sweet story, but how do we know you’re not manipulating our minds right now?
OSCAR: (Evil laugh, rubs hands together) Mwahahah. You’ll never truly know! You just have to trust me!
ADELAIDE B: Well I trust him- he’s one of the best superheroes I’ve ever worked with. Of course he doesn’t have the same martial arts talent as I do, but he’s a hero at heart. And he’s right- we all make mistakes. We all fail to live up to our potential sometimes. But then we just have to try again. Am I proud that I was trained as an assassin? No. But did it give me useful skills that I can now use to protect others? Yes! I was trained to be a weapon, but I now know how to help rather than hinder the world. As I like to say, Don’t be obstructive - Be productive.
FINN: Excellent advice. Now, Shadow, I was hoping you’d talk a little bit about the importance of being true to yourself. You’re not as bright and shiny as many other superheroes who like to show off with their flashy outfits.
HAVIVA: No, I’m not. I’m dark and gritty. That’s kind of my thing. When I was little, everyone thought I’d turn out to be a villain, but they were wrong. I’ve always been kind and compassionate beneath my dark exterior. I’m not a stereotypical superhero and I’m proud of that.
CASSIDY: As you should be!
HAVIVA: If you worry about what other people want you to do or expect you to do, you’ll never reach your full potential. I’m a genius, so making sure my brain is healthy and performing at its top level has always been important to me. I’ve learned that if you’re kind, it will build your mind. Being mean to others will only rot you from the inside.
COCO: If I could just jump in here - she’s exactly right! Whenever I meet young superheroes or anyone who’s going through a tough time, I try to help them understand that they are powerful!! Be who you are, because who you are is amazing.
CASSIDY: I’m sure there are many people in our audience who need to hear that message.
COCO: Yes! So many people worry that they don’t have the power to change the world, but the truth is you do! We all do. If you combine kindness and grit, you can do anything. Remember, If you can’t move a whole building, move a single brick!
ORLA: Well I can’t think of a better way to wrap up our panel. Thank you all for being here!
FINN: Workshops will begin shortly and then you can make your way to the cafeteria for lunch!

SCENE 5 - LUNCH
Many superheroes meet up for lunch to discuss their exciting morning.
HARPER: Wow! What a morning! Did anyone see Agmunden? I really want to see her! Do you think she actually breathes fire?
ROWAN: I don’t know. I can’t believe I got to see Shadow at the panel! She’s my idol.
LANE: Yeah the panel was cool, but my workshop was amazing. Look at these potions I made!
HOLDEN:  And I learned about bridge building! If you can persevere, you can engineer! (Strikes the same pose Talula and Dahlia did earlier)
AZURE: Do you remember what Rose said? “If you can’t move a brick, move a building!”
LOLA: Yeah, and Aurora said, “If you don’t like your destiny, change it!”
MEADOW: She’s so cool. One day I want to be like her.
SOPHIE FLYNN: Like Aurora? You’ll never be like her!! She’s like the most powerful superhero on the planet.
HENRY N: No she’s not. Gilda the Gallant is the most powerful! She can do anything!
ETHAN M: She defeated Ivan the Intolerable and saved 10,000 people during the Great Miami Flood.
MILES A: Yeah she’s incredible! Do you think she’ll talk to us after her speech?
MILA: I don’t know but I hope I can meet her!
RYAN D: I can’t imagine ever being like her.
APL INA: Like them! Ha - we’re nothing like her. She’s in a whole different LEAGUE!
MARGOT: Yeah - We’re just lucky to be in the same room as them.
Song: The Hero You Were Meant To Be
Bmaj7 F#-7/ C#-7 E
The River of Life is flowing/
And you don’t know where it’s going
Peer into the water and what do you see/
The hero you were meant to be

Everybody starts at Level Zero/
One foot in front of the other young hero/
And you’ll get to where you’re going if you just believe/
In the hero you were meant to be/

The hero you were meant to be/
The hero you were meant to be/
Be brave and embrace every possibility/
And be the hero you were meant to be
The hero you were meant to be/
The hero you were meant to be/
Be brave and embrace every possibility/
And be the hero you were meant to be

The floor starts to rumble and/or an alarm goes off.
There’s chaos and confusion and they scream and all tumble over

ELLA O: Hey guys! Do you feel that?
ZAYDEN: Oh No!!!!
MARGAUX W.: What’s happening?
ADEN: The floor is shaking!
ALL: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
INTERMISSION

ACT II
SCENE 6 - CONFRONT DISASTER
Students all enter down the center aisle and take their place on stage. There is a brief pause and the scene picks up exactly where it left off with a dramatic scream.
ALL: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
ALL: [Ad lib] What’s happening? What was that? Oh no!
ADELAIDE M, AUGUSTA & PIPER (the reporters) ENTER
ADELAIDE M: Everyone settle down! Listen up! The volcano erupted!
ALL: What?? Oh no!!
AUGUSTA&PIPER: It’s true- the volcano erupted!
ADELAIDE M: We flew around the area but we couldn’t get very far because the air is filled with ash…
AUGUSTA&PIPER: The lava is seeping through the forest, which caused the animals to stampede!
ADELAIDE M: That’s what caused the rumbling.
AUGUSTA&PIPER: It’s total chaos out there. We have to act fast!
ATHENA:  Or…. we could not act fast. We could just stay here and be safe.
OLIVE R: We’re safely contained in this center. The air is clear and we could survive in here for a while.
OPAL W.: But we can’t do that!
ORA: Why not? It’d be really easy.
SOPHIE F: No! There are probably people trapped in their homes--
EDIE: Or they’re out hiking in the forest-
HENRY N: Or they’re stuck downtown and they can’t get home to their families!
SIA: I don’t know - if we all go out there, we’ll perish!!
OLIVER W: No! We are superheros! We have to help!
RAMONA: This is WHY we have super powers! For moments like this.
EMMIE D: YES! This is literally a convention center FILLED with SUPERHEROES - This is the most perfect timing for a disaster to happen!
HOLDEN: We spent all morning learning about how we have the power to change the world. Remember what TellaRose said? If you can’t move a building, move a brick!
LIAM: But I am barely a superhero!
LILLIA: Yeah, I might be a real hero someday, but my powers are so weak right now.
JUNE: I’ve never even done anything heroic yet.
FINLEY: “Yet” -Exactly! But today’s the day!
LIAM: I don’t know…
CASPAR: I think we should wait for Gilda the Gallant.
CIARAN: Where even is she?
LOGAN: I don’t know… she should be here by now…
KELLEN: Maybe she’s sick?
ABHAYA: Maybe she decided not to come?
PHOENIX (EVERETT P): Maybe she got stuck in the LAVA?!
ALL: (General panic) [ad lib]  Oh no!! WHAT?!? That’s terrible! What’ll we do?!
All KINDERGARTENERS/ 1ST GRADERS:  Burst into hysterical tears
ADELLE: (Crying) Gilda the Gallant is stuck in lava? What will we do without her?
GUS: We’re doomed!
NATALIE O: (comforting, soothing the kids) No we’re not - we’re going to be ok.
ILLEANA: Now I know this is scary, but you are all brave superheroes and you can help solve this problem.
NATALIE O Yeah, who needs Gilda the Gallant when there’s all of us?
This isn’t really working- the kids are still crying.
KAI S: I NEED GILDA THE GALLANT!
AMIRA M: Yeah me too!
LUCY G: We need her to save us!
All kindergarteners/ 1st graders/ field trip kids SOB
ILLEANA: Calm down! Calm down - it’s going to be ok.
MORGAN: (making a dramatic entrance) OK - OK that’s enough panicking.
LUCY F: OH. MY. GOODNESS. It’s Agmunden - the dragon!!!!!!
ALL: [ad lib] Wow! It’s Agmunden! I didn’t know she’d be here! She is so powerful! I can’t believe it!
MORGAN: (She uses her hands to cast a sort of spell, controlling everyone’s minds and speaking in a trance-like voice) Now, we aren’t going to cry or panic anymore - we are calm. There’s no need to panic. We are calm. We can do this. We are callmmmmmm.
Everyone instantly quiets and calms down. There is a moment of calm silence.
ALL: [quiet ad lib] Wow I suddenly feel better. How did she do that?
MORGAN: Alright - that’s better. Now listen - We cannot sit around all day waiting for a hero to appear. We are the heros! We are actual, real life superheroes. Do you think I accomplished all of my great feats by waiting for someone more powerful to show up? No way! I seized the day! We have the power to remake the world and this is up to us!
Superheroes start nodding. She is a convincing, powerful speaker and they are swayed.
MORGAN: First, we need to send out rescuers and save the people in the most danger. Then, if anyone has elemental powers, we need to see if we can calm down the volcano and stop the lava. Then we’ll need to clear debris and remake roads and bridges. And then there are a million more things to do, like improve the air quality and save ash-covered crops. There is a lot to be done and there’s no way we’re going to be able to do it all unless everyone helps. (Indicating young Field Trip superheroes:) That includes you - every one of you. No matter how young you are, you have something to contribute. (Indicating rest of superheroes:) And it includes all of you. We all need to work together. Now -- are we going to sit in this convention center and just wait as the world crumbles around us?
ALL: [ad lib] No! No way!
MORGAN: Are we going to help save and remake the world?
ALL: [ad lib] Yes!
MORGAN: Awesome- then let’s get to work!

SONG: You’ve Got To Move Now
B---/A E/ G A/ B----
You’ve got to move now/ you’ve got to groove now
Oh oh oh oh
You’ve got to prove now/ that you know what to do now
G/ A/ B
Don’t go hiding/ from the thunder and lightning
The volcano is erupting/  Mother Earth is up to something
B---/A E/ G A/ B----
You’ve got to move now/ you’ve got to groove now
Oh oh oh oh
You’ve got to prove now/ that you know what to do now

Use your powers and your skills/ what you can and what you will
To get through this stormy weather/ we’ve got to work together

You’ve got to move now/ you’ve got to groove now
Oh oh oh oh
You’ve got to prove now/ that you know what to do now

SCENE 7 - FORM COMMITTEES
The heroes assess what needs to be done and form committees.
MORGAN: Ok - here’s the deal - we are going to break into committees. I have designated some leaders and they’re going to help us get organized!
ADELAIDE B: First, all the heroes with GRIT superpowers - you’ll come with me.That’s anyone who is super strong, or super tough, or has intense endurance. We need anyone who can work through the night without getting tired.
BRAM S: (with enthusiasm) THAT’S ME! I never give up!
ANI K: I’m all about Grit!  I’m super strong!
EVERETT PP: And I’m Cheetah Man - I’m super fast!
DAHLIA: Then, all the heroes with FLEXIBILITY superpowers, you’re with me and Dolly!
TALULA: We need everyone who knows how to repurpose, remake, and repair. We weren’t really planning on addressing a volcanic crisis, so we’ll have to think creatively about how to repair damaged structures and use the materials around us to help rebuild our community.
EMILY P: I can do that. I manipulate light!
EMMIE D: I’m a very creative thinker! Let’s find a way to reuse the ash productively!
OPAL K: And I’ll help! I can make hard work fun!
JEYDA: I can comfort people, would that be helpful?
COCO: It would! But you’re probably better off on my KINDNESS committee.
JEYDA: Cool!
COCO: I’ll take all the heroes with powers of Empathy. If you can feel others’ emotions and help us find people who might be in danger, or use your powers of kindness and compassion to soothe others, join my committee!
OBERLIN: I can help protect people!
MILES L: I can help sniff out injured people!
HANA S: Well, my name is Glitter Bow and one of my main superpowers is cheering people up!
COCO: Perfect!
OSCAR: Next is the SELF-CONTROL committee - If you are normally calm and cool and collected, or if you have learned to expertly control your powers, this committee is for you. We need you to help us stay calm and focused and manage the rebuilding effort.
JACE J: Ooh- I’m very thoughtful and organized- I can definitely help manage everything.
SAGE J: And one of my super skills is patience!
IVY J: And I’m good at staying calm and listening!
HAZEL W: And I need people for my HUMILITY committee! If you know that you are not the center of the universe and that it is important to think of others, join me. We are going use our everyday super skills to make a difference. If you can cook, bake, heal, or clean, let’s get to work!
MAE D: Ooh! This sounds perfect! I should be on this committee!
LUCY F: I can use my lightning skills as therapy!
MILA T: And I know how to design and sew clothes!
HAZEL W: That sounds great!
OABILOE: And if you’re a RISK TAKER, you’re with me! Maybe you have a BIG idea and you’re not sure it’s going to work, but you’re not afraid to try.
MIRA H: I have a big idea! What if we go back in time and try to evacuate people before the eruption?
JACK T: That’s the same idea I had!
LILY W: Well I can transform into animals! Maybe I can use that!
OABILOE: Those are exciting ideas! Let’s see what works!
MORGAN: Ok! So we’re all sorted?
ALL: (Everyone nods enthusiastically) YUP!
MORGAN: Great - well, no need to wait- meet with your committee members, make a plan, and go out there and use your super skills to solve this super problem!
Committees should already be seated next to each other. They now turn to each other and talk excitedly, getting started on their plans. Then they break into song!
Each group can be miming the work they will be doing during this song.

SONG: To The Rescue
Chorus:
D Em G/ A C
It is you (you!)/ to the rescue
Step up don’t let up to get up to the truth
And it is me (me!)/ who can be
Steady and ready for pretty much anything
Verse:
Bm A F# G/ Em A F#
I didn’t know I could do it/
but pushed to the limit/ I got in it and moving/
And now I’m/
Using all of my powers/
Making plays and saving days/ every minute every hour
Chorus:
D Em G/ A C
It is you (you!)/ to the rescue
Step up don’t let up to get up to the truth
And it is me (me!)/ who can be
Steady and ready for pretty much anything

Verse:
It’s inside of us all/
Just challenge yourself and answer the call/
Find your truth deep inside/
Hope and humanity cannot be denied
It is you to the rescue
And it is me

Continue Montage of Remaking the world while music continues to play

SCENE 8 - REMAKE THE WORLD
This whole series of reports is exciting! They are proud of their work - maybe everyone applauds after each report!
MORGAN: Whew! That was a TOUGH day of work you guys! But we made incredible progress!
MADDIE C: Those of us with Grit rushed out and got to work immediately.
IAN H: We used our strength, endurance, and speed to save everyone in imminent danger!
ANTHONY A: We worked all day without stopping - even when it was hard and we were tired.
JASPER:  We got a lot done!
LUCY E: But there’s more to do tomorrow and we’ll be ready!
PAKAL: They brought the victims to us on the Kindness committee and we set up soothing stations!
ZAYDEN: We helped them calm down and reconnect with their families.
MAE D: Then we stepped in and used our skills of humility to heal their wounds and cook them meals.
LUCY Y: We also sewed them new clothes and entertained them.
ATTICUS: Meanwhile, the risk-takers figured out how to supercool the lava!
HUDSON: It stopped spreading - Now there is no more imminent danger!
GUS: And we realized that Black Hole could use his powers to suck up the mountains of ash and send it far far away!
OABILOE: It’s true!
NAOMI GB: Once it was safe out there, the flexibility committee jumped into action. We figured out how to turn all of the crushed trees and destroyed buildings into bridges and temporary shelters!
ELLA O: We even figured out that we can use the ash to make super concrete for our rebuilding efforts!
CLEMENTINE: It’s amazing!
JACE: And those of us on the self control committee stayed calm and cool and collected and helped Agmunden manage everything.
ELLIOT C: We listened and were patient!
MORGAN: All in all, a pretty good day of work, I’d say!
GILDA or ADULT makes a dramatic entrance, rushing in through the audience.
GILDA/ADULT: Wait wait wait wait…
PAKAL: Oh my gosh! It’s Gilda the Gallant!
ELLA O:  I can’t believe it! She’s alive!
GILDA: Hold on just a second - are you telling me you actually contained a natural disaster, rescued your entire community, and remade your world all in one day?
ALL: Yeah!!
GILDA/ADULT: That’s crazy!
SAGE J: It’s not that crazy! We believed in ourselves, we made a plan, and we took action!
NAOMI GB:There’s still a lot left to do, but we’re not going to give up. We’re going to keep working to rebuild the world.
EMILY: So when you have a Super problem, don’t wait for someone else to save the day - be your own Superhero!
OPAL K: You already have all the Super Tools and Super Skills you need to remake your world!
MORGAN: There’s just a few key things to remember:
As the committees say their taglines, they strike their representative pose or their movement.
ALL KINDNESS COMMITTEE: Acting with kindness and compassion is the foundation of helping others.
ALL HUMILITY COMMITTEE: Look beyond yourself and offer your skills to others in need.
ALL FLEXIBILITY COMMITTEE: Every problem has many solutions: rethink, reuse, remake, and rebuild!
ALL RISK TAKER COMMITTEE: Sometimes super problems require super solutions - dare to try something incredible!
ALL SELF CONTROL COMMITTEE: When you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a breath, calm down, and try again.
ALL GRIT COMMITTEE: And remember, no matter how tough the going gets, don’t give up!
